Coffee nation news at this hour: “I am here to talk about cream, sugar, coffee, more cream, and maybe some chocolate to top on this love story”.
Who or what is sweet-tooth? Google answers back: “it is a person who has a great liking for sweet tasting foods”.
In extension, I may assume that the statement above also capsules drinks. Then, coffee creeps in through the back door at the risk of uproar.
Nobody loves nausea inducing foods or drinks. If something tastes like bottled cow piss, we basically avoid. However, taste is relative. What is sweet for one man maybe another man’s pinch of salt. This is the reason why we have people who guzzle beer more like tea, and tea tootlers who leave a trail of baffled wine lovers cleaning off the imaginary tea taste from their mouths.
Sugar on the other hand is Absolute. When something is sugary, it cannot be surrogated for a new name. It’s simply sweet. Now, there is no such thing as people who love coffee and those who don’t, … yes I mean it, just because you have not been properly inducted into coffee doesn’t mean you hate it, you love it, only that you don’t know this!
It’s a hot afternoon, you walk into a café with a friend, what do you order? Cold water or something fancy like a Frappe. Yes, we are talking of sweetened coffee today, so a Frappe it is.
A frappe is a coffee drink that looks more like a god of love to a certified sweet tooth. With ingredients like, whipped cream, Ice cubes, Espresso (Coffee) and Flavored Syrups; it’s a win-win situation. You get to enjoy coffee from a distance like a spectator because the sweetness within and without, dwarfs the taste of coffee.
A more date-like-drink would be a Mocha. Its mild sweet, chocolaty and soothes hearts. This is the reason why every time you are on a coffee date, a mocha is a sure conversation starter and ender. A mocha’s reputation originates from chocolate. This drink has Espresso (Coffee), Steamed milk, chocolate syrup and its topped with chocolate chips. Well, quiet a super drink for sweet tooth’s, romantics and hopeless romantics.
Mocha (This cafe got mean on the chocolate chips). Blame me for misplacing more elaborate mocha Pictorial.
Then there is of cause, the caramel Macchiato. This drink is a commoner in many cafes these days. Guys love the taste of caramel. I sneer at it but I can do with when desperate times come knocking.
Caramel Macchiato is made in the same way as a Mocha, only that this time, Caramel Syrup is used instead of Chocolate Syrup plus the Choco chips will miss too. It is a drink for people who love extreme alternatives: individuals who don’t fancy the taste of chocolate neither cream nor ice cream.
Lastly, if you decide to get adventurous enough, something which is not extra sugary may do. In this category we are talking of Lattes. Drinks so famous in the world of coffee that if there was a coffee drink that has socialite tendencies, this is it. The trick here is to order a latte with a word before it. For example, Vanilla Latte, Iced Strawberry Latte, Ice-cream lattes and so on. Then, request a syrup on the side to add to the already sweet drink.
By Ordering a latte in a café chances are that you will get a drink with espresso (Coffee) and a lot of steamed milk. If you order a Vanilla Latte, they will add Vanilla Syrup into the drink. Same happens with all the other lattes, catch the drift?
Iced Caramel Latte. (Extra Sugar Syrup on the side)
Saccharin drinks are not my partners in crime. I love the strong drinks, the kind of stuff that makes hair stand if possible, sometimes I love being hyper in thoughts, actually all the time, so, strong for me beats saccharine any day!
However, Salummy being Salummy, when she requests something, you better do it or rick a jail term for failed chivalry.
Coffee is not hard to grasp. It is a lifestyle. It’s in the laughs, the dates, the hang outs, the meetings, cheeky stares in a café, the fanciness, the diversities, its somewhere there. Actually …
“Coffee is a lot more than just a drink; it’s something happening. Not as in hip, but like an event, a place to be, but not like a location, but like somewhere within yourself. It gives you time, but not actual hours or minutes, but a chance to be, like be yourself, and have a second cup” ― Gertrude Stein, Selected Writings
